At the bottom of this page I have listed a few home base business ideas. Now these might do nothing for you. You might think, "well I am not interested or don't have the experience to do any of them".

So what do you do now? Click onto the next website that says 'get ideas for a home based business'? No, because you will still probably be faced with another list of ideas that again will not interest you. Or you haven't got the knowledge or expertise to run that business concept.

What I would like you to do now is to read the following paragraphs and put them into practice. The following paragraphs will help you find a home base business idea (niche) that you are passionate about.

A home base business idea that you will love doing. You will want to jump out of bed every morning to 'work your business'.

And guess what? By doing something that you love makes running a business so much easier, and the best part is that the money follows. How good is that!

So if you want this to happen to you, then do the following exercise to help you find your dream home-based business money making machine...

Carry Out This Exercise:

We are going to try and find a business niche (idea) that you will be happy doing each and every day.

Ideally this will be something that you are already good at, or have an interest or passion about.

It must be in-demand. You need to know if people are wanting your product or service. Obviously this is important if you want to make a full-time income from your business.

It must pay well. You also need to know that you can charge a certain amount for this product or service to give you a good hourly rate.

#1 Make A List Of Your Ideas

Get a pen and paper and have a brainstorming session and write down everything about you.

For example:

Do you enjoy sewing? Why not offer your services for sewing alterations or make unique cushion covers.
Can you play a musical instrument? Teach it to others.
Do you do handy-work for friends & neighbours? Start up a handyman business.
Have you got skills in health & Beauty? Be a mobile beautician (even do bridal makeovers).
Do you love children? Become a self-employed child-minder/nanny.
Can you do basic gardening? Do weeding, cutting grass/hedges for elderly and busy people.
Do you love messing around on the computer? Start a computer home based business.

What are your hobbies?
What interests do you have?
Does anything 'excite' you?
What skills do you have?
What training have you learned?

Here are some more ideas to help with your list:

What activities do you do in a given day?
What do you do on a daily basis that you enjoy?
What do you gravitate towards doing on a weekly basis?
What magazines do you buy?

Put it away for a few hours or a day or so and return to it. Ask friends and family what they think you would be good at. Sometimes a good idea is too obvious to you that you cannot see it.

#2 Make A List Of Your Top Three Ideas

Why three? Well, you need to find out which one you will enjoy doing the most on a daily basis. But most importantly, you need to find out which one has the most demand and will pay you the biggest rewards. If you cannot find three, it doesn't matter - one or two will be fine.

Now it's time to research your three niche ideas.

Look in your local Yellow Pages (YP) both offline and online (yell.com) and see what competition there is in your area.

If there is no competition, then this might mean that there is no demand or not enough demand (people looking for your product or service).

Is there too much competition listed in the YP? Are there pages upon pages of competitors? Maybe you should go with your second niche idea with less competition.

Ring your competition and pretend you are an enquirer.

Ask how much they charge for their product/service
Ask if they are really busy (hopefully they are which means you will be too)
Ask any other questions that will be helpful to you with your research.

Do this for all three of your niche ideas. Analyse the results, and you should come up with your best home base business idea which will have:

Enough competition to warrant a good demand (plenty of customers)
Not too much competition that you cannot get your foot through the door
It pays enough for you to make a decent living
Your 'gut instinct' tells you that this is the one.

I know that this is not all cut and dried for some business ideas. For example, if you wanted to make jewellery and sell it, you probably wouldn't list yourself in the YP.

So in this scenario you would do more in-depth research. Look on the Internet, look in specialised magazines in your niche. Are there people selling jewellery in these magazines?

So you have to put on your thinking cap and maybe do the following, for example:

Try to get small local craft shops or stalls to buy and sell your merchandise.
Sell your jewellery (cushion covers, crafts, hand-made cards etc.) on eBay!

So some of these niche ideas boils down to how you intend to market your product or service.
